This February, the President signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) that will supply federal funding to pave the way for the modernization, renovation and repair of our U.S. schools. This bill will allocate support funds and construction tax credits for elementary, secondary and postsecondary educational facilities.
Outlined in the approved funding use is installation of state-of-the-art HVAC system that will improve IAQ and decrease energy usage. Under the terms of the funding plans, school districts have 12 months from enactment to put half their funds under contract and 24 months from enactment to obligate the remainder of the funds.
